Stephens Engineering Ware, Hertfordshire

Robex Contracting was tasked with replacing a busy workshop floor renovated with Robex RXPU High Build 500.

Stephens Engineering based in Thundridge, Hertfordshire has been trading since 1968 and are specialists in automatic transmissions. Owner and working proprietor Bill Stephens asked Robex Contracting to provide a quotation for preparing their floor and applying a hardwearing floor coating.

Work undertaken

The work was completed over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, taking four full days from start to finish. The work was originally due to be completed in three days. However, there was a large amount of oil contamination present, which required extra time to remove. This was achieved using a combination of heat, chemicals and specialist floor preparation equipment.

Once the floor had been thoroughly prepared, a primer coat was applied and allowed to cure overnight. Robex RXPU High Build 500 in royal blue, was then applied and allowed to cure. The following day a walkway was marked out and applied in light grey with a fine bauxite aggregate included, to provide a safety non-slip finish.

Challenges

Removing oil contamination in the floor and working to a tight schedule.
