The Corinthia Hotel Westminster, London

The Corinthia Hotel is a five-star hotel, located at the corner of Northumberland Avenue and Whitehall Place in London. We were asked to look at one of the hotel kitchens, where they were having problems with tiles breaking and generally causing a health hazard. Robex Contracting installed a new kitchen resin floor screed.

Work undertaken

Due to the limited time involved, it was decided not to take up the existing tiles. All tiles were prepared using a diamond headed grinder with vacuum extraction.

Any damaged or loose tiles were removed and filled with resin and our RXPU 6290 Resin system was installed. The tiles were primed and the following day the screed was installed. Flexible joints were introduced where required and all coving was installed.

Outcome

The new resin screed has proved very popular with the staff; it is hygienic, easy to clean and has good non-slip properties.
