The Hard Rock Hotel, London

Installation of Robex Gripmaster to loading bay

Find out more about this service

Objective

The loading bay had become hazardous due to the numerous sections of the floor that had failed and resulted in holes which made it difficult for the staff to transport trolleys and receive deliveries without encountering problems. Our objective was to provide an anti-slip resin flooring system that seamlessly combines both hardwearing durability and long-lasting performance.

Materials Used

Gripmaster installed at 2mm fully broadcast with a 0.7-1.2 pigmented quartz

Gripmaster is an advanced flooring system that employs Methyl Methacrylate Resin (MMA) to create an ultra-strong, long-lasting solution for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. With a rapid drying time of only 60 minutes, this system is designed to expedite the flooring process while still providing exceptional durability. Gripmaster boasts superior resistance to abrasion, impact, and chemical exposure, making it an excellent choice for high-traffic areas like industrial facilities, warehouses, and workshops. It is also highly popular in commercial settings like hotels, hospitals, laboratories, and food processing plants, thanks to its hygienic properties and easy maintenance. Available in a wide range of colours and finishes, Gripmaster provides plenty of design flexibility, allowing you to tailor your flooring to suit any aesthetic.

Work Undertaken

After mechanically preparing the substrate and fixing any failed screed sections with quick repair MMA Mortar, Gripmaster Primer was applied, followed by installation of the Gripmaster Resin coat at 2mm that was fully broadcast with pigmented quartz measuring 0.7-1.2 in size. Once the loose quartz was swept and collected, two coats of MMA Sealer were added.

Challenges

As is often the case in the hospitality industry, work was restricted to a specific time frame, from 10pm to 5am, and had to be completed over two consecutive nights. The first night was devoted to preparation, while the second night was designated for the floor installation.

Outcome

The hotel now boasts an incredibly durable floor that can withstand the ongoing commotion of a bustling loading bay area. The evidence of this can be seen in the accompanying photographs.
