We were asked to quote for works to the existing failing floor finish. The customer found it very difficult to find anyone willing to travel to the island as travel was very expensive by the ferry crossing. Robex had been recommended and took up the challenge.

Materials Used

Robex RXEP Hi-Build 500 epoxy resin in light grey, walkways in green with yellow borders, yellow and black with non-slip around the pits. Red in the floor of the pits with a non-slip finish.

Work undertaken

The existing floor had previously been coated some years ago. The coating was worn and looked very tired. We prepared the floor using diamond grinding machinery with the addition of dust extraction fitted. This took the floor down to a bare clean concrete slab which was fit to accept a coating.

We applied our solvent free RXEP Hi-Build 500 resin system by roller to the entire floor and introduced all walkways and markings in various colours.

Challenges

No contract comes without complications but this job was completed and carried out in two stages. We had to partition half the workshop as technicians were working on vehicles on the other half of the workshop.

Outcome

The finish was fantastic and more importantly, the client was delighted with the end result.
